Letopis Privacy Policy Effective date: June 9, 2026 Letopis (the "App") is a macOS application that records and transcribes audio entirely on your own device. This Privacy Policy explains, plainly, what the App does and does not do with data. The App is provided by Sergey Makarov (the "Developer"). Questions: feedback@letopisapp.com. Summary Letopis processes everything on your device. Your recordings, the transcripts made from them, and the audio they contain are created and stored only on your Mac, under your control, and are never sent to the Developer or to anyone else. The App has no user accounts, no analytics, no telemetry, no advertising, and no tracking. The Developer runs no server that receives your content and collects no personal data about you. The App's only outbound network use is downloading the machine-learning models it needs from a third-party model host. These practices are the same however you obtained the App. 1. What the App does on your device - Recording: the App records your microphone and, when you choose to record a call, the audio played by other applications (for example, the other party on the call), and writes the result to a folder you control. - Transcription and speaker labeling: the App transcribes the recording and labels speakers using machine-learning models that run entirely on your Mac. The speaker-labeling step computes voice characteristics (a "voiceprint") on your device in order to tell speakers apart. - Storage: recordings and transcripts stay on your Mac, in the App's library folder: the folder you choose, or the App's default location until you choose one. You decide where they are stored, how long they are kept, and when to delete them. This audio, these recordings and transcripts, and any voiceprint never leave your device. The Developer never receives them. 2. What the Developer does not collect The Developer does not collect, receive, store, or transmit: - your recordings, transcripts, or any audio or its contents; - voiceprints or other biometric data; - your contacts, files, location, or device identifiers; - usage analytics, telemetry, or crash reports sent to the Developer; - any account information - the App has no accounts and no sign-in. The App contains no advertising and no third-party tracking or analytics software. 3. The only network connection: downloading models To transcribe and label speakers, the App needs machine-learning model files. On first run, and whenever a needed model is missing, the App downloads these files - the speech model, its tokenizer, and the speaker-labeling model - from Hugging Face (huggingface.co), a third-party model host. These are ordinary, anonymous file downloads. The App sends no recordings, transcripts, personal data, account, or identifier with them. As with downloading from any website, the host (Hugging Face) necessarily receives, in order to deliver the files, your device's IP address and standard request information (such as the file requested, the time, and your system's user-agent string). The Developer does not control Hugging Face and does not receive this information; Hugging Face's handling of it is governed by its own privacy policy at https://huggingface.co/privacy. Once the models are downloaded, transcription and speaker labeling work without any network connection. 4. If you obtained the App from the Mac App Store Apple distributes the App and handles any purchases and updates. Apple may collect information about that under Apple's own Privacy Policy at https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/. The Developer does not receive your identity from Apple; at most the Developer sees aggregate, non-identifying App Store statistics, and only where you have allowed Apple to share such data. 5. Voice and biometric data Speaker labeling (diarization) computes voice characteristics that may be treated as biometric data under some laws. This computation happens only on your device, and the result never leaves it. Because you decide whom to record, you - and not the Developer - are the party responsible, under the law that applies to you, for the recordings and voice data you create with the App, including obtaining any consent the law requires from the people you record. Your responsibilities are set out in the End-User License Agreement. 6. Your rights The Developer holds essentially no personal data about you, so in most cases there is nothing for the Developer to access, correct, export, or delete. The data you create with the App - your recordings and transcripts - is on your device and under your control; you can view, move, or delete it yourself at any time. Where the data-protection law that applies to you grants you rights over any data the Developer might hold, you can contact the Developer at the address below. 7. Children Letopis is a general-purpose tool and is not directed at children. 8. Changes to this policy The Developer may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the App or in applicable law. Material changes will be reflected in the App or by other reasonable means. The effective date above shows when the current version took effect. 9.
